Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for John had been saying to him: “It is not lawful for you to have her.” Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people because they considered John a prophet.
On Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests and pleased Herod so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted and had John beheaded in the prison. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother. John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus. (Matt 14:3-12).
What did John do? He did absolutely no wrong rather than saying the truth. And Jesus said in the book of John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. He knew that Herod is not supposed to have his brother Philip's wife, and he said it to Herod, and Herod being the caliber of person that doesn't like the truth to be told to him decided to have John arrested and put him in prison so that he can cruise on with his brother's wife. In fact, he actually wanted to kill him because he was afraid of the people because they considered John a prophet. But the title of John did not save him when the opportunity comes for him to be beheaded.
Why because he was not praying in the prison for God to deliver him, he was silent. He felt that as him being a prophet would, put fear in Herod for him not to be beheaded, but did that put also fear in Herodias no! She was absolutely livid for John saying she should not be Herod's wife, “Herodias”. Because she is after her title, recognition, and power of being the queen. She wants respect from society and she can only attain that if she is the queen! And John speaking against it is got her more livid and infuriated.
And she started nursing it in mind to eliminate John and decided to wait patiently for the faithful day she gets John beheaded. Who knows if she was the one that cast a spell on John's anointing to make Herod put him in jail, who knows if she was the one that has been fasting and praying evil prayers for John not to be prayerful while he was in prison and confused his mind to the extent that John, the forerunner of Jesus Christ has to send his own apostles to go and asked Jesus whom he baptised if he was the Christ.
When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?
John being in prison heard of what Jesus whom he baptised was doing, instead of him sending his disciples to tell Jesus to pray for him to be released from the prison, rather he sent his disciples to go and ask Jesus questions meaning, a heavy spell has already been cast on him to diminish his subconscious mind. Meaning that Herodias his be-headers scheme is fast working and waiting for the right time to be executed.
That shows that when someone is desperately after your life, He/she can go to some certain extend to eliminate you. Herodias loathes John to the extend of depriving her daughter of her precious birthday gift of asset of a whole half of the kingdom that every girl would be proud to have. But her mother who already has her own plans advised her daughter to ask for the head of John the baptist in a platter. Who knows if she enrolled her daughter in a sophisticated dancing school in order for her to dance and impress Herod. Anything is possible when a beheader is after your life. But God will frustrate their plans.
The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken Ps37:14-15
The above verse is the word of God for you and for me when the wicked is looking for an avenue to behead our heads like the way they beheaded John the baptist's head, God will make their sword fall on their own head. Amen.
Prayer points:
Be-headers seeking for my head, fall down by fire in the name of Jesus.
Anyone planning for me to beheaded me may their sword fall on their own head.
Where ever they have gathered and they are calling my head, may fire fall in their mist in Jesus' name.
My head refuse to fall in the platter of the enemy in Jesus' name.
Oh God of heaven shields my head from evil men in Jesus' name.
The truth shall set me free not take my head in Jesus' name.
Herod and Herodias seeking for my head, scatter by fire in the name of Jesus.
